I ♥ Death of a Polaroid: A Manics Family Album

For the best part of 20 years Manic Street Preachers' bassist and lyricist Nicky Wire has been collecting mementos in the form of Polaroids. Documenting their various stages from Generation Terrorists through Everything Must Go and right up to last year's 10th album, Postcards from a Young Man. Wire had the huge and if not impossible task of editing down from over 1,000 of his personal Polaroids. The end result is a stunning visual biography of one of the most loved, iconic and creative British bands of the past two decades. Death of a Polaroid: A Manics Family Album is published today by Faber & Faber.

I ♥ Manic Street Preachers: Polaroid inspirations

Over the past two decades The Manic Street Preachers have always maintained a strong visual approach to their sleeve artworks. Bassist Nicky Wire has never hid his love for the Polaroid. His collection of Polaroids for the 'This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours' were all used in the high profile album campaign.

Their tenth studio album 'Postcards From A Young Man' artwork features a black and white photograph of 'Reservoir Dogs' actor Tim Roth half naked holding a Polaroid camera.

Nicky Wire commented "The fact he's got a huge Polaroid camera is what gets me because I'm a huge fan."

Long live The Manic Street Preachers & the Polaroid!
